About

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are an English electronic music band formed in Wirral, Merseyside in 1978. Founding members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys pioneered a distinctive synth-pop sound, scoring major hits like "Enola Gay" and "Maid of Orleans." Rounded out by members Martin Cooper (keyboards, saxophone) and Stuart Kershaw (drums), OMD released several acclaimed albums in the 1980s, and have continued to record and perform over the decades.

  • Great concert at a wonderful venue

by MarionE on 6/18/25Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

OMD delivered an engaging performance, following an entertaining show by Walt Disco. The Fox Theatre is a beautiful venue with easy access to bathrooms and several bars.

  • The boomer audience sucked but band was awesome

by James on 6/18/25Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a boomer / GenX hybrid and just can't get over how many people still go to concerts and watch them through their phones. What is wrong with people? Y'all end up with massively distorted sound and shaky video that you will never watch, while blocking the view of people behind you. I wish more bands would tell people to keep their phones put away, and that more venues where bands make that request would enforce it. The show itself was no disappointment. It did not change my life, but I'm really glad to finally have seen OMD live. After all these years of being OMD, the spirit is still there. Given the current state of the world, the visuals that accompanied Enola Gay were extremely literal and almost celebratory rather than in some way dialing in to the tragedy that the "anti-war"song allegedly represents. The band and audience seemed to celebrate. Repeated heroic images of mushroom clouds, bombers, and so on, really pushed a Nukes Are Great vibe that didn't land well at all. I note that the original music video contains none of these literal, celebratory visuals depicting the destruction of the lives of millions of people.

  • OMD does not disappoint-expensive beers 🍺

by Leslie on 6/18/25Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

OMD at the Fox in Oakland was an amazing concert! Everything about their performance was incredible. 2 beers for $40! Now that is disappointing. Also, we didn’t have seats, so we had to stand (which is fine for dancing, of course), but puts people in that crowd feeling, which isn’t great.

  • Glad to be back!

So awesome to see Andy and Paul after 20 years! Andy has definitely slowed down a bit, but still an amazing show, sound, lights, dancing and song selection. They picked just the right mix of classics from the 80's and 90's as well as the newer songs that show that classic OMD vibe. I was a little surprised that Paul was ok with playing a few tracks from Sugar Tax, but was happy to see Pandora's Box and Sailing on the Seven Seas on the set list. I could have done without If You Leave but overall I really had a great night dancing and singing along with my favorite 80's band.

  • Great entertainment

by VeePeeTech on 6/18/25Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I was a fan in the 80s, but I did not recollect how many hits they had. Excellent night. Lead singer is very good value for money, highly interact, clear voice, great performance

  • OMD continue to amaze!

by DavidR on 6/18/25Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Since reuniting a few years back, OMD has become a well-oiled machine. Their new music is every bit as engaging and unique as their initial output, and they are always crafting engaging visual components to complement, but not overwhelm, the performance. The crowd was hanging on every note, but it was apparent that a large portion was there for the older songs. I would have enjoyed including more songs from their current release, Bauhaus Staircase, but they have such an extensive discography, every song is welcome. I'm unsure if it was the mix or the performance, but the opener, Walt Disco, didn't feel like a good fit. I suspect the singer's voice is decent, but it came off as yelping from where we were sitting. The sound balance was not good for them. I hope OMD will continue to release new material and tour, as they always deliver a great experience!

by PaulaJ on 6/13/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

From the easy of entry into the venue to the ushers to the great seating it was a smooth experience getting in. The concert was incredible. The event staff were great at keeping people from blocking handicap seating and viewing.
