About

Al Stewart on Tour

There is something special about an artist who can tell a captivating story through their music. Scottish singer/songwriter Al Stewart is one of them. Drawing crowds on tour since the 1960s, when his debut album, Year of the Cat hit the radio, Stewart takes his audience on a journey with him that they will never forget. Attending a show is a memorable experience, and can be somewhat of a history lesson. The folk singer started his career writing love songs, but after a run of bad luck in that department, Stewart, an avid history buff, decided to give his storytelling skills a whirl. Stewart's concerts are a glimpse into the past, telling his favorite tales from his years of scouring history books. His 1974 album, Past, Present and Future, outsold all of his previous albums combined. Stewart has maintained one of the most devoted and long-lasting audiences of the folk/rock genre. His 2022 tour with his band, The Empty Pockets, is set to span three countries, including the United States, UK and Israel. The 2022 tour will feature songs from all of Stewart's albums, including Year of the Cat, Time Passages, On the Border, Nostradamus, and Roads To Moscow. Catch Al Stewart and his band, The Empty Pockets on tour in 2022.

Al Stewart Live in Concert

Al Stewart is a Scottish singer/songwriter who rose to stardom in the late 1960s as part of the British Folk Revival. When Stewart was a child, his mother moved him to an English town named Wimborne Minster, following the death of his father. His father, who served in the Royal Airforce, died in a plane crash during a training exercise before Stewart was born. He began his career by singing in local coffee shops around London. As his music career took off, Stewart released two back-to-back platinum-selling albums,The Year of the Cat and Time Passages. Stewart moved to the United States to reside in the Los Angeles area following the release of his album Year of the Cat in October 1976. Stewart prides himself on writing music that is a bit eccentric. His concerts draw fans who have been loyal to Stewart for decades. His 2022 tour follows several cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is long awaited and anticipated by fans.

  • Al Stewart concert

by Nick on 5/9/25Mickey's Black Box - LititzRating: 5 out of 5

Al Stewart and his band the Empty Pockets put on a great show at Micky’s Black Box theater in Lititz Pa. Al is a master song writer and storyteller. The band opened with a set of their music (and one Beatles cover) which sounded great. After a short intermission, Al joined the Band and performed a wide variety of his songs. I’m stunned that at 80 yrs old he sounded so good and has the energy go on a tour like this.

  • A little late but worth the wait.

by AL fan on 5/9/25Mickey's Black Box - LititzRating: 5 out of 5

I have been hearing Al Stewart’s songs all my life (60 years), but it took my 17 year olds appreciation & a fortuitous show at a local venue to bring it full circle. Mickey’s Black Box in Lititz, PA hosts a variety of entertainment in an intimate setting. Seeing an icon of a waning generation of music was a no brainer, especially up close & personal. The band Empty Pockets was both the opener & the backing band and fully capable at both. They have been playing together for around 3 years so it seemed a good fit. Al has been at this all his life, and his charm pulled you in from the first note, those classic songs made current by the young talent gracing the stage. A fabulous introduction to a catalog of songs I have known all my life.

  • An Outstanding Concert

by Mr. Hip on 5/9/25Mickey's Black Box - LititzRating: 5 out of 5

I have followed Al Stewart's career for well over 50 years and have been fortunate enough to have seen him in concert a number of times. His current tour with Empty Pockets is a standout. Both Al and the band were in great form and provided a very entertaining evening. Loved Al's story telling between songs. If you get a chance go see him and Empty Pockets. You won't be disappointed! Mickey's Black Box located on the Rock Lititz campus in Lititz, PA is a great place to see and hear a concert. Small in size with great acoustics.

  • Highly enjoyable show

    by Olmstra7 on 4/8/25The Pageant - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great overall show with Livingston Taylor as the opener capped by a stellar performance by Al Stewart and his youthful, highly talented supporting band The Empty Pockets. The classic Al Stewart tunes sounded wonderful with his voice still in fine form; the band doesn't miss a beat and in fact adds many flourishes of its own. Nice intimate venue, The Pageant, as well.

  • An Enjoyable evening, but could have been better.

by Cin on 4/2/25The Pageant - Saint LouisRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed Al Stewart, but he only played at most for 1.5 - 1.25 hours. I did not care for his opening act. It was comical, but the songs were weird and very elementary. I would have perferred Empty Pockets open for him.
