“The Thorn” Live Theatrical Production
by Joy on 3/12/23Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5The live stage version of The Thorn is absolutely EXCELLENT! The man who plays the Disciple John, (and who tells the story of the life and death of Jesus,) is incredible! I felt like I had entered a Time Machine and gone back to the days when Jesus walked the earth. This is a very emotional reenactment, (akin to the movie The Passion,) and some scenes may be inappropriate for younger children who can’t understand what they’re seeing. I was pleased that the story followed actual Bible teaching, and I experienced every possible emotion, from laughter to tears and everything in-between. As an avid follower of The Chosen, I understood every part of this show. I wonder, however, if others who are less educated about Scripture and Bible teaching, understood what they were seeing. However, John narrated well, and most should’ve been able to follow what was happening by following his stories. The music was outstanding, as was the costuming. The special effects with the lighting was on point, and the storyline flowed beautifully. I wish I could go back and see it again, only this time…I’d wear water-proof mascara! The depiction of Christ’s last three days was heart-breaking on every level.I didn’t see a dry eye amongst anyone sitting near us. THANK YOU for bringing this factual, realistic depiction of the world’s greatest love story to audiences everywhere. As a side note, the theater chairs in The Music Hall at Fair Park, were the most comfortable I have ever experienced. The entire experience was flawless. I can’t recommend this stage production enough.
