Penn & Teller On Tour
Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.
Penn & Teller Background
America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.
Great show, highly entertaining. Penn is Uber quick on his feet...Teller was great also. Would see them again!
Very impressive show, creative tricks, captivating magic and talented presenters. A must see in Las Vegas
I had high hopes but was somewhat disappointed. Penn and Teller: Penn looked like he was forcing enthusiasm. Teller just looked so old. Maybe it’s time to retire. At first I thought it was just a poor audience night. They were less than enthusiastic. But upon further reflection, I changed my mind. The audience, and myself, have been watching Penn and Teller for years on tv, so we were very familiar with them and their repertoire. What we saw was a repeat of their acts. Some new, but really a reframing of old routines for the most part. Therefore, we expected more in person and paying for it. I’d like to address the staff. The ushers were wonderful. Engaging, personable, nice to talk to. That reflects how they are being treated by the performers. What makes P&T unique is their ability to relate to the audience, to include them in the acts, to make them feel important. The staff behavior is a positive reflection of that.
Very entertaining show, good option if you are travelled to Vegas for fun or business.
If you are going to see a magic show in LV see Penn and Teller, no one can match them. Shame the Rio is so far off the Strip as the walk is a bit too far. Penn even does a jazz duet during the warmup.
Why did I wait too long to watch this show. Dont be me...and go watch it today. Tricks are amazing, great story line....and filled with laughs!!! All in one show!!! And I got to be on stage!!
We sat in the front row, had a magical experience, my son got to interact with the show. Worth the money & time.
Good clean fun. Seats were good. Show was entertaining. Theater was comfortable.
Penn & Teller put on an amazing show at the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio. Their magic acts were amazing and they interact with the audience with some if their magic acts. This was my first time seeing the duo live and I would definitely go see them again in Vegas. Penn traditionally does all the talking and storytelling while Teller says nothing. My favorite trick performed was the medium water tank trick Teller did.
Loved these guys for years - they're obviously amazing but I could tell that the residency is tiring and hard to keep exciting. Teller did some mind blowing tricks (the best one) but there was a lot of relatively boring audience participation tricks that weren't that impressive and a lot of time wasted talking about how they're different to other shows on the strip. Would have much preferred to see amazing tricks
