The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour
Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert
The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.
I enjoyed Marshall Tucker a lot. I was a little surprised that they played first. I guess I am not going to enough concerts these days. They were great and I enjoyed them very much. Ticketmaster should make it more clear which band is going to play first.
It’s unfortunate that Dougie Gray is having health issues, which we were not aware until after the show. None of the current line up mentioned or paid tribute to him at any time during the show. The band played the hits but not very well in my opinion. The show was 75 minutes, not at all worth the price of admission. It was no better than a b grade tribute band.
We saw Marshall Tucker at the Edge Pavilion in Laughlin, NV on May 10 with friends. The venue is perfect, for smaller events the band and acoustics were epic!
The band was great. Wish the bass & the volume could have been turned down a bit. The Edge Pavillion is a nice venue.
My husband and I had a wonderful time......sure wish it lasted longer :). I wasn't sure to begin with if I would like it or not but they were phenomenal. If you didn't have a good time, you have no-one to blame but yourself.
Great music, excellent guitar work. Way too loud 😳. Amps turned up to point of distortion.
In spite of the fact that Doug Gray was unable to perform due to health reasons, Chris and the boys still put on a show worthy of five stars! They performed all the songs we know and love, and even personalized it to the desert theme since they were playing in Nevada. If they are coming to your venue, don't hesitate to snag tickets asap. A lot of the older bands play, and the energy isn't the same as it was back in the day, or they play a bunch of new stuff they're trying to sell on the latest album. NOT THE CASE with this show. Energy was high and they sounded as great as they used to when I was much younger. Thank you Marshall Tucker Band for doing what you do so well!
I really enjoyed this show. For the most part they sounded very good. Apparently on of the singers was having some vocal issues due to a cold or something, but i really didn't notice it all that much. I also appreciated that the keyboard player also played a flute and sax instead of just using a synth to mimic those sounds. The guitars were excellent and the drummers solo, though short was also excellent. Thanks for the musicianship! My only knock is a minor one, that being that at just about 1 hour the show seemed a little short. A bit more would have been great.
