  • It was way more than I expected.

by MJShoe on 7/13/09Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

It was my first time seeing the Rev, and I was blown away. A dear friend just recently turned me on to the Pchyo-billy genre and I am hooked. A great mix of their older stuff, which I have become familiar with, and songs from their new CD which I now have a copy of and have put on my IPod. A truely entertaining evening that I would love to see again.

  • Opener was better

by Torik on 7/12/09Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

We went to see "the Rev" Saturday night in Seattle. The Showbox was a unique, fun venue. The opening act, Nekromantics, were great. Their lead was fun to watch, and the awesome chick drummer was rocking smokin' hot! When RHH got onto the stage, the sound booth turned up the volume, and the sound became so loud that the words were muffled and you couldn't understand most of the lyrics. Quite disappointing, actually. Buy the CD and enjoy it on your own - it will be a better experience.

  • Reverend Horton Heat with Nekromantix - must see!

by TommyRocker on 7/12/09Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing performance of guitar wizardry and thumping upright slap bass; The Rev always delivers his high-octane infused rockabilly to your ears with a no nonsense and effortless attitude. Shameless song titles like "Bales of Cocaine" and the furious "Psychobilly Freakout" get the crowd riled up for his nearly 3 hour long set with little break between save for the 3 or 5 minutes between encores. Backing the tour are Nekromantix; one of the best psychobilly outfits to be on the scene. A lead singer (Kim Nekroman) who plays a coffin-shaped upright bass (which he also built) like a bat out of hell! Who can say no? This is also an opportunity to witness the new lineup to the band, a very tight guitar and one of the most precise female drummers to come onto the scene which has not been an altogether male dominated arena, but still a rarity to see on the skins.

  • THE REV STILL HAS HIS HEAT

  • The coolest band you'll ever see

by TexasExPat on 7/12/09Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

In the 20 years I've been seeing this band, I have never failed to be astounded at their remarkable showmanship and genuine thrill at giving the audience every cent's worth of their ticket. The new songs rocked, and I look forward to the release of the new album this September and the tour opening for MOTORHEAD this Fall. This band just gets better with age.

  • That man can play Guitar

by Mouser on 7/10/09Wonder Ballroom - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The band just played on and on and on and on and on and on and on...... Was amazing! I love a good metal guitar player. However, they could all learn a ton from the Reverand Horton Heat! Bass player and drummer, SOLID! AMAZING SHOW!!!!!! Was the first time I ever saw them. Got 4 hours of sleep that night, was at work at 0715... Very worth it.

As always pure and simple kick ass rock and roll. Great venue that the band seemed to enjoy. I know they can be a little picky when it comes to venues, but they should be.
