What a wonderfully entertaining and educational live experience!

  • Rockstar astrophysicist in amazing venue

by Teacherblack on 6/9/25Paramount Theatre Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Neil deGrasse Tyson is so smart and funny--it was more like seeing a one-person show than a lecture. And the Paramount in Oakland is worth going to just to see it in all its art deco glory. The only thing missing was a t-shirt--I wanted one that sais, "Science doesn't care if you believe in it"with his face, or something like that. But if you ever get a chance to see him, definitely do!

Neil deGrasse Tyson show at Oakland Paramount Theater on Friday June 6th, 2025 was great. Excellent presentations with lots of eye opening knowledge. The event was well organized and nicely coordinated. I recommend his show to anyone who is interested in Astrophysics.

  • Inspiring and Educational Evening with Neil deGrasse Tyson

    by N/A on 6/9/25Paramount Theatre Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I took my 12-year-old daughter to Neil deGrasse Tyson’s talk, and we both really enjoyed it. She was curious and engaged throughout, and it was great to see her so interested in science. Tyson shared ideas in a clear and relatable way, making complex topics easier to grasp. It was a solid experience hearing from someone who values science and reason. Overall, a good way to spend two hours and we left feeling more informed and conscious of the universe. :)

  • Wednesday Night with an Astrophysicist So glad we went

by Friend of Pluto on 6/7/25Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Neil deGrasse-Tyson, himself, said it was encouraging that a crowd that large (~2000) would give up a Wed. night to hear an astrophysicist speak for 3 hours. And, everyone present was the richer for having attended. Dr. Tyson was funny, certainly knowledgeable & he kept the show topics moving maintaining a high level of interest. It was a lot of fun. He involves & engages the audience throughout the show, jokes & laughs along with the crowd. His sense of humor was infectious and left audience wanting more. What a great experience. PS Pluto is still a planet... at least in our hearts. Thnx.

Will surely see him again any time he’s in town! Even my kiddo had some insightful takeaways.

  • Informative, entertaining, and engaging

by Kevin the Sommelier on 6/7/25Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Neil makes learning and understanding fun and enjoyable. Combining laughter with education is his specialty. One of the best ways to retain information. He typically runs long because he gets carried away with topics that he is passionate about. The VIP Q&A was great too

  • Entertaining and refreshing show!

This show was wonderful and unique. Dr. Neil is the best astrophysicist and has the humor to compliment each topic.

  • Will know better next time

We obviously did not clue in to the topic of the evening when we purchased the tickets. We greatly admire deGrasse Tyson but regretted spending so much money for tickets to hear a relatively inane show with very little substance. We are all for science and believe science is more important than ever in this current climate. A show focusing on movies from decades ago was not our cup of tea. The couple of times Neil referred to current events (related to science) in his personal opinions was a highlight.
