Los Angeles Sparks History

The Los Angeles Sparks are a professional women's basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). As one of the founding members of the league in 1997, the Sparks have a rich history in the WNBA, leading the Western Conference in seven separate seasons, qualifying for postseason play in all but five years, appearing in five Finals and winning three: 2001, 2002 and 2016. Over the years, the Sparks’ roster has fielded multi-Most Valuable Player recipients Lisa Leslie and Candace Parker, as well as 2016 MVP Nneka Ogwumike. Leslie, a career Spark, also won WNBA Defensive Player of the Year twice and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. Parker became the only WNBA player to receive MVP and Rookie of the Year awards in the same season in 2008.

First home game -- good to be back with the Sparks. Even better because we won!

  • People liked the catering offer

On my first time I was surprised how many spectators do even not watch the match, but just plunge into their fast food. I liked the flashy noticeboards, which made us follow the game much easier.

  • Los Angeles Sparks vs Phoenix July 5 2009

Initially, I felt the energy, excitement from the sparks in the first quarter. . However, they seemed to have lost some of their genuine spark and connectivity with each other later as the game progressed. Overall, I thought that the sparks played fairly well considering that they did not win the game. I still love the sparks.

I took my daughter for the first time and she had the time of her life! It was great to see Candace Parker come back and play on the team and our seats were really great. I will come and see the Sparks play again.

2nd WNBA game @ Staples, and another great time. Had a better seat, and got to watch my fav team beat LA! Love the family environment, and easy on the wallet ticket pricing.

It is an hour drive for me to get to Staples center, but I would make the drive again in a heartbeat to watch the Sparks play Phoenix! What an exciting game!
