  • The first 5 races in King's Plate were fun and exciting.

    by J9 on 8/26/24Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

My experience was excellent and problem free. The staff was very helpful, polite and professional considering the large crowd. The atmosphere was great and the food and drinks offered were very good. Unfortunately the King's Plate was postponed and that did put a damper on the day, but it was the right call to make, safety first!! The make-up day of August 23 was a major inconvenience because no one planned for a makeup date. Maybe that is something that should be worked on for the future. It would be great to have learned something from this first experience.

  • Kings Plate was great

by Donna: The bad weather was not the fault on 8/21/24Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great event although cancelled part way due to bad weather

  • Woodbine Disappointment

by Westley Anson on 8/20/24Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Woodbine did a poor job hosting this big of an event. The queues were not well established at the entrance to the event causing mass confusion. Limited number of personnel with scanners slowed the entrance to a crawl. Once inside, the Grandstand was overloaded with people as the space cannot handle the large number of people. Queues for food, drink, betting, etc were too much. The personnel operating the vending were ridiculously slow as they were overwhelmed with the number of patrons. Woodbine is beautiful racetrack, but they were a poor host for such a large event.

  • Kings Plate

by Polly on 8/20/24Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

They shouldn’t have changed the name from Queens Plate as respect to the Queen. Aside from the rain and windy day, it was a good event.. too bad it was cut short. The rescheduled Friday will not be the same and sadly mixed in with Fridays card.

  • Wet one

by Oldie but goldie on 8/20/24Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

  • The record pouring rain ruined the fun

by CCToronto on 8/20/24Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

We went to the King's plate for 4 years, this year agenda was pretty good - a large area was prepared, concert prepared, unfortunately Toronto had record rain fall that day, big downpour for the whole afternoon, almost none of the planned activities can be done. Race was cancelled by 4:30pm. We did meet Olympic gold medalist Phil Kim and took photo, that was highlight of the day.

  • Wishing for a Queen

by Blcksmth on 9/11/23Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

We attended the Queen's plate last year. Trackside Apron. Fantastic event. A couple drink tickets and food passed around. Even a person wondering to take your bets. Seating could have been more but we planned better for this year.... No need. No seats. No drinks. No food. Regular optional seating in the grand stand. For trackside this was a real waste. Should have just bought grandstand seats. I definitely didn't spend as much on betting and I'm certainty not going to get these tickets next year.

  • Queens plate was wayyyyy better

by Farstar on 9/5/23Woodbine Racetrack - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The event is the event but jeez no food trucks no outdoor entertainment or things to do…missed opportunity nothing like previous years. Also only having the food court open where it’s def not designed for these volumes. Waited in line for at least 20 minutes and after placing a basic order waited another 20 minutes. From an event standpoint terrible I’ve gone every year to the queens plate and this year makes me question returning

  • Great experience!

by DBahanou on 8/24/23Rating: 4 out of 5

The racing delivered as usual. But the staffing issue was a concern. Things could have moved faster when it comes to serving food and beverages, but everything else was top notch given the site was under construction. They should also bring back the souvenir pictures that we can print!!

  • What happened to the party and the FASHION??!!!!

by The King of the King’s Plate on 8/23/23Rating: 2 out of 5

As the title says, What happened to the party and fashion? This years Kings Plate had no flair or excitement, it seemed like any other day at woodbine just with more people. There was no hype, no party atmosphere, no red carpet, no fashion runway. A derby is to be all about the Fashion and fun, oh yeah and the horse racing. Someone has to bring back the fun and excitement or there will be no Kings plate in the coming years. It will just turn into another day at the races. We are in the verge of losing one of the most beautiful exciting fashionable event at here in Toronto. I hope the organizers understand the biggest mistake they have made and correct it and bring the PARTY back next year. Oh and next year I hope they fix valet parking and don’t put it in the middle of a TTC bus loop and Uber drop off. BRING THE PARTY AND FASHION BACK!!!!!!
