  • Buena Vista

by Fabio on 3/22/25Bella Concert Hall - Mount Royal University - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

After all, we're talking about Buena Vista Social Club, so they have a name and a reputation to uphold and they did! Beautiful music, great musicians and singers. I saw this group before and some of the original members are now dead or too old to perform and I was very happy to see them again and to watch how they're integrating new members into their ensemble. (Piano guy, trumpet guy and trombone girl were great and they're the future of this group) I think the singers and the band members in general were able to engage the audience as much as they could (98% white Canadians and maybe 2% Latinos), but I think the venue wasn't the greatest for the 2% of the people who wanted to get up and dance (me included)... Prices were a little high, maybe because the venue wasn't too big.. Anyway, great concert in spite of the little things I mentioned... Big thanks to the organizers for bringing these legends to Calgary!

  • A Nigh to Remember

The start when they enter the stage they held and captivated the audience all throughout the evening. It was a full house. The selection of music programming was awesome. The singers and entertainers were humble, and a crowd was amazing while we sat and watched this wonderful and ensemble, Musician, and singers perform authentic Cuban music, in Toronto

  • Exquisito

Great music and sound. Piano was unreal and percussions. Was so awesome when whole band kicked up the gear on many songs. Full on horns and Latin beat. Would go again for sure. Highly recommend for any BVSC or Latin jazz fans. 😎

  • Lousy concert

by Buck on 11/11/24Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 1 out of 5

Thought this was a jazz concert.....more like a tin pan band on the mexican border. Lous and awful. Waste of time and money. Walked out early.

  • Very badly organized. Deceitful advertising.

The main event (Jesus "Aguaje"Ramos) was very good. However, the opening act started over 30 minutes late and lasted too long. The transition to the main event took over 45 minutes. The radio (98.5) announcer was extremely loud and did a bunch of commercial announcements we were not interested on. Commercial announcements should not be part of a show for which we paid significant amount of money. They can always be listed on the Program brochure. We left the venue long before the show was over. One more thing: Omara Portuondo was announced as part of the show when we purchased the tickets. Amara Portuondo did not show up last Sunday. Very deceiving and disappointing. This should be prohibited.
