About

Donnell Jones’ career took off in 1996 with his album My Heart, a collection of R&B gems that helped establish his reputation as a moody, soulful crooner. His cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet” became a huge hit and showcased his spectacular singing voice. His live concerts bring his background in gospel music to the stage and ticket holders get the chance to hear Jones belt out some of his most popular numbers, like “U Know What’s Up” and “Shorty (Got Her Eyes on Me).” His smooth moves and soulful songs get the crowd chanting along with him, and he is great at injecting energy into his concerts and owning the stage with his sharp style. Donell Jones recently embarked on a 2013 tour to promote his newest album Forever, which the endlessly talented singer wrote and produced himself.

Born in Chicago to a gospel-singer father, Jones took an interest in music at a very young age. In order to avoid the gang culture of Chicago’s South Side, he started hanging out with local musicians and soon partnered up with Untouchables Entertainment president, L.A. Reid and Babyface, who gave him the boost he needed to spark his career. His solo debut My Heart jumped up to No. 30 on Billboard’s R&B chart and featured the singles, “Knocks Me Off My Feet,” “In the Hood” and “You Should Know.” If you're looking for an R&B artist with a knack for writing original, addictive tunes, be sure to catch this superstar next time he comes through your town.

  • Amazing

Adina, Madame Queen showed out. I thoroughly enjoyed her set, my favorite. Everyone did extremely well, and this experience was pleasant. It seemed pretty fast though, show started at 7 and ended at 9:45ish. I regret not doing the meet and greet Donell and Ginuwine seemed pretty dope, hopefully I will have another opportunity.

  • OG’s Still Can Sang!

The show could have been a little longer. The acts seemed somewhat rushed. However, all the performers sounded amazing after all these years. Loved the show!

  • MAGNIFICENT

The concert was magical. The vocals on all the artists were clear, mature and magnificent. The crowd engagement made something out of this world. I had a ball.

Awesome show. All the acts were amazing. Adina Howard definitely shocked me with her amazing vocals. Tabitha (KutKlose) was super sweet to take a photo with me.

  • Ummm, I could have done without that

by LS on 4/14/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 1 out of 5

Ginuwine lip synced the majority of the time. Kut Klose was ok same with Adina Howard. Donell Jones didn’t perform too bad, but the background vocalists and dancers stole the show! Went to the Dru Hill concert in the same venue a few months ago and it was cheaper, way more packed and entertaining than this concert.

  • Charlotte owes me nothing!

by Shy on 4/14/25Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

The show was good. I missed the opening act (drove 4 1/2 hours for this show). Ms. Adina Howard- showed OUTTTTTT! This was my 1st time seeing her live. Her vocals, stage presence and overall performance was a reminder to the younger generation that "the 50+ crowd can still command your attention". She left no crumbs. Ginuwine- came out swinging! He sung my favorite songs and even came into the crowd to show love (while performing). I've seen Ginuwine perform previously. His set was good. Donnell Jones- closed out the show with many of my favorite songs. This was my 1st time seeing him live. He didn't sing "Playa's in the hood"which hurt my musical feelings. He later explained that there was an issue that caused him not to perform it. I forgave him. There was some form of malfunction with the sound. A few times i wasn't sure what he was singing because the music overshadowed his vocals. I'm not sure if it just sounded that way because I was literally next to the speakers. At the "meet and greet"he was very personable and patient as people gave him his flowers (myself included). Overall, I had a ball, and Charlotte owes me nothing.

  • Dec. 28th Oakdale Theater in Walingford,Ct. with Trey Songs

by Garylovesmusic on 12/29/24Rating: 3 out of 5

He performed well. But even with music is done by a DJ, there should have been the screen working behind the DJ with close circuit camera going . Trey Songs as well . If you're going to charge high prices, give people their money's worth. Overall , the show was alright/okay. Good turnout. I'm a band guy. I like seeing people playing instruments. The live experience.
