Anaheim Ducks History

What began as a 1992 Disney movie turned into a professional hockey team as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim played their first official season in the NHL in 1993. With the emergence of Paul Kariya in late 1994, Anaheim had its first bona fide superstar.

In 1996, Teemu Selänne arrived via trade, and alongside Kariya helped lead the franchise to its first playoffs appearance in 1997. The Ducks reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. Forever etched in Mighty Ducks lore was the knockout delivered upon Kariya by the Devils' Scott Stevens in game six. Kariya would make a hero's return in that game, emerging from the locker room to score and lead the team to victory. Netminder Jean-Sébastien Giguère won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs, becoming the fifth player to win the trophy as a member of the losing team.

Disney sold the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, and the team dropped the "Mighty" from their moniker. With star players on the roster, including future Hall of Fame defensemen Chris Pronger and Scott Nidermayer, the Ducks finished the 2007 season as Stanley Cup Champions, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games. With Rob Niedermayer also on the roster, the Niedermayers became the first set of brothers to win the Stanley Cup together since the 1980s. The Ducks have been in the playoffs a total of 14 times.

  • Ducks Entertaining Again!

by JD on 3/3/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

After 6+ years of misery after such a good run prior consistently in the playoffs there is finally light at the end of the dark tunnel and the team is finally turning the concern to eventual playoffs next year hopefully. Can’t wait for UC Vibe to complete phase 1 yet the Honda Center is always a great venue especially enjoyed our seats in section 320 at center ice. Great food and snack options on the club level.

This was my 3 grandsons first live hockey game and we had a blast! The Ducks win was outstanding!

  • super fun

by kin on 1/28/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Very fun! The parking is not done so we did have to walk a fair amount in the rain but not bad with clear weather lol also had to kick people off my seat but super fun overall

  • Great game

by Jerry on 1/26/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Great time. Met at Hollingshead's Deli in Orange at 5pm for a pre-game sandwich and beer and drove the short distance to the Pond. Parking at the venue was OK and went as smoothly. Missed the warm up so next time we'll meet at 4:30. Always a surprise when the Ducks win, but they young Ducklings are playing better and seem to be improving with every game. Actually dominated the 5-1 victory with all 6 goals scored right in front of us. We'll probably go again before the end of the season.

  • Great game.

by LZ on 1/12/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

The Honda Center is a well laid out building with many outlets for food and drink. Washroom facilities were quite adequate. The best thing of all is the Calgary Flames won the game against Anaheim Ducks.

  • Let Down by the Ducks/Angels Promotion

    by 5KRunner on 1/11/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

Having been a loyal Ducks fan for over 30 years and attended multiple games every season, I was left disappointed by the team. I purchased these tickets before the season specifically because of the Angels/Ducks Jersey giveaway. I was very disappointed to arrive almost 45 minutes early, despite terrible traffic, then waiting for their shuttle bus from the Big A parking lot, only to enter the Honda Center and find that despite having a sold out game with over 17,000 fans, they only had jerseys for 5,000 of them! They were long gone before we arrived! My wife and I walked around to every entrance, only to be told the same thing: all gone, check another entrance. Meanwhile we saw lots of people walking around with the jerseys on, or carrying extra 'free' jerseys. Frustrating! In all the years, I have never seen them limit a promotion like this, and since it was my main reason for attending this game, I spent the whole night frustrated. The Ducks blew it on this one

  • Fabulous time

by Sbomb on 1/10/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Arena concession was pricy, but we expected that. Easy to navigate arena itself, enjoyed the ordering pads, but being from Canada if I wasn’t paying for a plan I wouldn’t have got my text telling me my foods ready, etc. so remember your order number because you won’t get a receipt Overall a great night. Mostly because the Ducks lost and the Flames won! Worth the trip!

  • Best game experience

by Anthony on 1/10/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I bought the cheapest tickets I could find to take my wife and niece to the game. When we got to the arena and sat in our seats, we immediately had an employee (Tyler) come up to us and tell us he was surprising us with upgraded seats. The tickets he gave us were glass seat tickets next to the penalty box so we were more than excited for the upgrade. Tyler escorted us to our seats and explained who provided the upgrade and where we would be seated. This was the best experience Ive ever had at any sports event.

  • Fun atmosphere

by Keeker on 1/8/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

The staff and team make sure that you are engaged and having fun. The team played great. We purchased the family pack tickets. We received our hotdogs, popcorn and pop no problem

  • Lets Go Ducks!

by LeeJean on 1/3/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Came down from Alberta and went to 2 games at the pond. Great experience! The team store is amazing and has so much selection. We were able to get down close for warm up both games. Seat attendants were nice and helpful. Very fun pre-game show, we saw Wild Wing zip line to centre ice one game. And best of all, the Ducks won both games against really good teams (the Oilers and Devils). Couldn’t have asked for a better visit.

  • Well, yes they can!

by Bigchinner on 1/3/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Well, even though the Ducks season has been up and down; with more downs than I would like, I have watched and seen them beat the Jets twice. I know they can do it. The Honda Center is a great place to watch the games and the prices are reasonable. Keep it up Ducks and the Honda Center. Don't forget to download the Ducks app so you can order food and drinks before you get to the concessions; it's much easier.

  • My first Ducks game!

    by Ross. Z on 1/1/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent experience! Great atmosphere great food options and exciting entertainment!!

  • Excellent experience

by Niv on 1/1/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time to a hockey game in America and it did not disappoint. Pre game entertainment was excellent as well as the in game intervals. Food concessions prices are a bit pricey and they could easy up on the salt served on popcorn, outside of that I highly recommend going to a ducks game as they know how to put on a show.

  • First live Ice Hockey game

by KMan on 1/1/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Great experience, really found out what a home advantage is like in the US. Would've been better if the Ducks had won....

  • LA Kings' second home

    by K Lee on 12/3/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

As a longtime Kings fan, I enjoy the Pond Invasion at Honda Center. To watch us Kings fans outshout and even outnumber the ducks fans at their own barn. It always feels like home away from home. Watching the Kings beat the ducks was even sweeter! I was expecting some traffic off the 57 but it turned out it wasn't bad at all since the game was on a Black Friday. Since I live 20 minutes away, I am definitely going there again for another Pond Invasion.

  • Ducks power

  • great game

by Jglam on 11/23/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

Great game, but the stadium was freezing. So cold that it was so uncomfortable. Had to purchase hot coffees and hot chocolates to keep hands warm. There are also very few food options available. Seat attendants were very friendly, nice and helpful.

  • Great location of Seats in Section 219!

by PapaG on 11/16/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

The family enjoyed the total experience of seeing live Hockey! The quality of these seats and service was very good, would buy these seats again !

  • Fun for the whole fam

    by Michael M on 11/14/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

From parking to entry to seating and amenities, Honda Center and the Ducks delivered a very good time. Family friendly atmosphere was noticeable and appreciated.

  • Disappointed fan

    by Flying V on 11/13/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 1 out of 5

How do you have a giveaway where barely half of the fans get the item? Parking is terrible and they ran out right just before we got through the door. Game was fun but everyone was disappointed about not receiving their hat and several others were too.
