3x-GRAMMY Award Nominated Contemporary Jazz Fusion Band Acoustic Alchemy have been at the forefront of contemporary jazz for over three decades, even if the band's signature eclectic mix of styles has meant they have never comfortably fit snugly into any one genre.
We've had a lot of labels over the years, at the start there were all these names flying around like New Adult Contemporary, New Age music, and then it became Smooth Jazz, but we've never really thought about ourselves as being in any one particular genre. We just make music we like. Says Greg Carmichael, At the core it's always been about one simple concept: the sound of the nylon and steel guitars working together, but that leaves a lot of scope for exploring all sorts of musical ideas.
Acoustic Alchemy has delivered 22 acclaimed albums over 30+ years. From their very first album 'Red Dust and Spanish Lace' released in 1987, to the current release 'Thirty Three and a Third', they have spent over three decades defining and refining the sound of instrumental Jazz with hits such as Mr. Chow, Lazeez, Flamoco Loco, Catalina Kiss and Jamaica Heartbeat.
Not only critically acclaimed for their albums (including 3 GRAMMY Nominations), Acoustic Alchemy have also built a reputation for being one of the most exciting live bands in the business. Their shows are a perfect combination of virtuosity, musicality and fun for the fans, featuring a dazzling array of musical genres but all the time keeping their signature acoustic guitar sound out front.

Acoustic Alchemy is fabulous!!! Where we sat at the venue left something to be desired. Had lots of "traffic"going by in view of the stage. Was difficult to determine what our seats were going to be, as it appeared on the map that they maybe were booths that were on an elevated platform, but were just the high top tables that are not comfortable on legs. Will know better next time as we took time to thoroughly look around for the different seating areas.
Great show with all talented musicians, played favorites like Angel of the South and amazing new sounds.
Jimmy’s was great: cocktails, food, wait/bar personnel all awesome, as usual. Short Acoustic Alchemy show. Band announced “last tune” at 1:20 in to an audible groan from the packed house. Band played “last” tune and departed the stage. Despite raucous applause, Jimmy’s turned on the house lights (meaning “that’s all folks!” for us regulars) to more groans from the crowd and cessation of applause. The band crept back on stage to a “pleasantly” surprised crowd, played a truncated encore and left the stage for good. Been to too many shows at Jimmy’s to have that mishandled. Will always be back for more—but hope the team is better informed to avoid that in the future.
Great group of musicians that deliver a relaxing and uplifting sound. Can’t wait till they return to Jimmy’s. Acoustic Alchemy connected world with the audience mixing in their new and standard songs along with amusing conversation.
These guys were as good as ever. I've seen them 4 times and they are superb musicians. If you like them, you wont be disappointed.
Second time seeing AA at Vogel. Sweet, intoxicating music. The guys were so into it. You can tell they love what they do. Audience loved them. The Vogel is a great venue. So intimate. Staff great too. Cannot wait for AA's return to Red Bank.
The concert was fabulous. I liked the small venue at 191 Toole. The AC was cranking. I actually felt chilled. The only negative was the small narrow folding chairs. They were so small and not comfortable. Other than that the music was very good.
First time at this venue. Smaller, intimate, and very comfortable. The band is classic Acoustic Alchemy. All solid musicians that play beautifully together. Always a treat! 💜
Just saw Agustic Alchemy this past Tuesday. Was my first time listening to them perform. And perform is an under statement. They were great. Really made me appreciate Jazz a whole lot more.... Would like to see them again.. When they are in town... We'll Done!!!!
